Privacy Policy
Ambervial handles some of the most personal information there is — the medications you take. This policy is written to be read, not skimmed past.
What the app collects
- Medication records you enter: medication names, doses, schedules, start dates, dose history, and notes.
- Appointment records you enter: visit titles, dates, and discussion notes.
- Optional safety context you choose to add: over-the-counter medicines, supplements, allergies, and conditions.
The app does not collect your contacts, location, photos (outside an active bottle scan), or browsing activity.
Where your data lives
Your records are stored on your device and, when sync is enabled, on Ambervial's own servers solely to keep your devices in sync. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for marketing. There are no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking in the app.
Bottle scanning
When you scan a bottle, the barcode is matched against openly published U.S. FDA drug databases to pre-fill the medication's name, strength, and form. If you choose the optional photo-label reading feature, the label image is processed by an AI service solely to extract the label text; images are not retained after processing. This feature is opt-in and clearly marked in the app.
Safety checks
Safety review findings are generated by comparing your recorded list against published FDA label data. These checks run against your data for your benefit; the published sources never receive your identity.
Deletion and export
You can delete any record, or all of your data, from inside the app at any time. Deletion is permanent. You can export your medication summary at any time — it's a core feature, built for appointments.
What we will never do
- Sell or rent your health information.
- Show you ads, or let ad networks into the app.
- Tell you to stop, skip, or change a medication. The app is an organizer, not a clinician.
Children
Ambervial is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above will change with it, and material changes will be called out in the app and on the dev blog.
